We had some administration and the like on Sunday morning from 11am, including certain appointments and ground rules, with one humorous highlight when the clerk said that a minute usually had another sentence in it, which he summarised. He then announced that the line was in the minute, but had been hidden by his blotting paper!
The higlight of this session was an introduction to connecting to the spirit, given for the Yearly Meeting by Rachel Muers. It related to the book of Matthew and how Jesus took his new followers to a place and he just sat down. It linked in Advices and Queries 10, about coming to Meeting even when tired, depressed and otherwise not on top form. I hope that I am not over-expressing then when I write that it was just brilliant, beautifully and thoughtfully delivered. We were reminded that the poor in spirit shall receive the kingdom of heaven, and we were reminded how passionate God is, willing to offer us, his followers, effectively something for nothing. I may not be doing justice to the ministry and have sought a copy to be made available but no success yet. Maybe later.
Edit: you can listen to Rachel’s prepared ministry here.
